WICKY Vic from Jamberoo Bowling Club reports that Calum and Alan Pirie won their way through to the club's minor pairs final with a 19-13 win over experienced duo Ron Wiggins and Russell Jones on Saturday.

Wiggins and Jones led by one shot after 14 ends, but the Piries won five ends in a row to lead 17-9 with three ends left to play.

Calum and Alan then held off Wiggins and Jones to secure their berth in the final.

In the handicap singles, Warwick Drew, who is playing in his first bowls competition, defeated Bill McFadden 31-2.

Drew is expected to be tough to beat in this competition.
