TEENAGER Reece Robinson will try to go one better when he contests the Ron Godbolt Memorial at Newcastle velodrome tonight.

The 15-year-old, who finished second behind Joshua Taylor last year, qualified for this year's final by winning his heat on Wednesday night.

He has been handicapped out on 130 metres and will take plenty of catching.

One of his main rivals will be Brian Radcliffe, who will start from the middle of the field.

Radcliffe finished third in his heat behind Dave Peacock and Dean Benedetti, but he is the Australian all-round road champion in the Veterans Six division.

Another rider looking to make good use of his liberal handicap will be Tony Heaney.

Heaney finished third behind Robinson on Wednesday, but that was only his first night back racing after two months on the sidelines with a broken collarbone.

He is sure to be improved by the outing.

Matthew Worley will defend the title he won last year.

But he will be fully tested by Armidale 19-year-old Mitch Bullen.

Racing starts at 5.30pm.
